New retail collection launches to celebrate the 'Miracle of Istanbul'

Jakarta, May 22 2025 - To mark 20 years since Liverpool's incredible Champions League triumph in Istanbul, LFC Retail is launching a special anniversary range.

The Reds lifted the European Cup for a fifth time on May 25, 2005, producing the 'Miracle of Istanbul' by coming from three goals down against AC Milan and winning on penalties.

Built on a black, grey and red colour palette, the new anniversary collection features special-edition apparel – T-shirts, polo shirts, scarves, hats and collectables, including a new long-sleeve version of the replica jersey worn on the night.

Legendary defender Sami Hyypia, who was part of the starting XI in the game, features in the campaign imagery.

"Somehow you didn't realise what you had achieved, but it was a great feeling," he says. "When you are a professional football player, you would like to win the Champions League at least once, and we managed to do it in Istanbul."

Alongside the Istanbul anniversary range is a collection of exclusive signed merchandise from the team who created club history that night.

There is also a special-edition anniversary blackout jersey that is inspired by the original home shirt worn at the match, now with unique gold detailing. This has NFC technology hidden in the crest that unlocks exclusive content and a competition via a smart phone, including an interview with Hyypia.

Exclusively for fans in Indonesia, this collection will be launched alongside a “Miracle of Istanbul”-themed installation at two locations: Liverpool FC Retail at Pondok Indah Mall 2, Jakarta, from May 20 to June 8, and Liverpool FC Retail at Pakuwon Mall, Surabaya, from May 23 to June 8. With the launch of this limited-edition collection and special installation, loyal Liverpool FC fans in Indonesia can commemorate and celebrate this legendary moment with enthusiasm and nostalgia.
